Our new purpose-built facility was officially declared ‘open’ by the Attorney General, The Hon Martin Pakula MP in front of donor recipients, donor families and other special guests of the DTBV.
On Friday 4 September, the Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria will be proudly supporting Jersey Day to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation and to encourage everyone to ‘have the chat.’
The public will get a sneak peek into the Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria, operating within The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, with our theatrical performance ‘The Rest is Silence’ which highlights the issue of tissue donation.
The DTBV was approached by the organisers of a unique Melbourne-based arts project, The 24 HR Experience, to tell the remarkable story of tissue donation. The public were granted unprecedented access to the Institute and the co-located DTBV to gain a rare insight into the various processes involved in tissue donation here in Victoria.
